Dental Implants

Dental implants are a natural-looking, permanent solution for missing teeth. They’re the only tooth replacement option that protects your health in addition to restoring your smile. Dental implants offer a range of unique benefits and can replace any number of missing teeth.

For patients who are short on time, we also offer immediate load implants. With this treatment option, you can enjoy all the benefits of a healthy and beautiful smile from the moment you leave our office.

Sedation Dentistry

If you suffer from dental anxiety, Dr. Grubb is happy to provide sedation so you can relax during your treatment. Dental care is very important to your health, so we want to ensure your anxiety doesn’t prevent you from receiving the treatment you need.

Depending on your needs, we offer two forms of sedation to help you relax in the dental chair. Dr. Grubb’s is pleased to be able to offer both nitrous oxide or oral conscious sedation.

Crowns and Bridges

If your tooth is severely damaged or decayed, we can restore it with a dental crown. Crowns restore strength and function to your tooth, allowing you to chew your favorite foods without difficulty. Best of all, they’re custom-made to blend in naturally with your smile.

As an alternative to crowns, we also offer dental bridges. Bridges rely on your surrounding teeth to support your new artificial tooth, effectively closing the gap in your smile. They look and function like natural teeth, and they’re fixed in place to create a durable, long-lasting restoration.

Porcelain Veneers

Veneers are thin shells placed over your teeth that effectively cover aesthetic flaws in your smile. These flaws include:

  • Chips and cracks
  • Stains and discoloration
  • Crooked, uneven, or misshapen teeth
  • Large gaps between teeth

The veneer process is typically completed in just two visits to our office. Once your treatment is finished, you can enjoy the flawless smile you’ve always wanted.

Tooth-Colored Fillings

If your tooth has been damaged by decay, we can restore its appearance and strength with a tooth-colored filling. These fillings fortify your tooth against future infection and they’re made from durable materials to ensure long-lasting results.

Our fillings precisely match the shade of your teeth, so they’re virtually invisible. They’re also a highly convenient treatment that can be completed in just one appointment. If you want to treat a cavity and guard your tooth from harmful bacteria, a tooth-colored filling is the ideal solution.

Regular Dental Checkups

It’s very important that you visit the dentist at least twice a year for regular checkups. During these checkups, one of our hygienists will thoroughly clean and polish your teeth, removing plaque and tartar. After your teeth are clean and sparkling, Dr. Grubb will perform a complete dental examination, checking for signs that indicate problems such as gum disease, oral cancer, and more.

These checkups are important for a variety of reasons. First of all, though daily brushing and flossing helps a lot, you still build up bacteria in your mouth over time that only a dentist can remove. If you skip regular checkups, your risk of developing tooth decay and gum disease is greatly increased.

Additionally, many serious oral health problems aren’t easy to detect on your own. The earlier an issue is detected, the greater chance we have of treating it.

Teeth Whitening

If you’re unsatisfied with the shade of your smile, we can remove stains and discoloration from your teeth with a professional whitening treatment. Teeth whitening can remove stains from:

  • Coffee, tea, wine, and soda
  • Tobacco use
  • The natural aging process
  • Certain medications
  • Fluorosis

By visiting Dr. Grubb for teeth whitening treatment, you can enjoy a brighter and more beautiful smile before you know it.

What are the symptoms of gum disease?
In the early stages of gum disease, called gingivitis, you may not show any symptoms. Once the disease progresses to advanced stages, known as periodontitis, you’ll likely experience some of the following symptoms:

  • Red and swollen gums
  • Gums that bleed
  • Persistent bad breath
  • Loose teeth
  • Painful chewing
  • Receding gums

With gingivitis, the effects can be reversed with a thorough cleaning at our Havre de Grace office. Once the disease progresses to periodontitis, Dr. Grubb will recommend coming in for more frequent visits to keep your gums free of infection and in the best of health.

What services do you offer that can replace my missing tooth?
At Family Implant & Reconstructive Dentistry, we offer a variety of restorative treatments such as bridges and dental implants. Dental implants not only look and feel like your natural teeth, but they can also last a lifetime.

If you’re interested in learning more about our tooth replacement options, contact our office to schedule a consultation by calling (410) 939-5800. During the consultation, Dr. Grubb will examine your oral health and provide you with information on the benefits of each procedure so you can make the best decision.

Can I treat gum disease at home?
If caught early on, gum disease can be treated with a professional cleaning. A more severe form of gum disease, called periodontitis requires scaling and root planing. Scaling will remove the plaque and tartar, while root planing smooths the exposed roots’ surfaces.

There are a few symptoms that indicate you may have gum disease. They include:

  • Swollen gums
  • Bleeding gums
  • Toothaches
  • Receding gums
  • Pain while brushing, flossing, or eating
  • Consistent bad breath

Following your professional cleaning, you’ll want to be sure to follow a regular oral hygiene routine. Brushing twice a day, flossing daily, and rinsing between meals will help keep your teeth and gums in the best of health.
